Flamethrower
Danville’s Tank Museum invites you to witness one of the most horrific weapons used during WWI through the Vietnam War -- the flamethrower. The Tank Museum was the first in restoring and preserving flamethrowers so that the general public could see this weapon in action. Like poison gas, flamethrowers were supposed to be outlawed during WWI, but they were used nevertheless. Flamethrowers were also used on the islands of the Pacific during WWII. The Tank Museum demonstrates several types of flamethrowers every year on the last weekend of April during the museum’s two-day Military Extravaganza. In this podcast, Charlie Hobson, foremost flamethrower use and restoration expert, not only tells listeners about this massive weapon, but he also demonstrates it in all its roaring, hissing, fire-breathing glory.
